Property uses social media to give back to the community
Silverton Casino Hotel is joining hands with the Las Vegas community to take the steps needed to help the local non-profit organization, Opportunity Village. Starting April 1, for every person who “likes” the Silverton Facebook Page during the month of April, the property will donate $1 per “like” up to $2,500 to Opportunity Village, which is the non-profit organization that supports the intellectually challenged.
Silverton’s inspiration to do this came from Penn Jillette, Las Vegas headliner who recently raised $40,000 for Opportunity Village during his time on the show “Celebrity Apprentice.” The Facebook page can be found under “Silverton Casino.”
“Our team was inspired by Penn’s donation to Opportunity Village,” said Alison Gramenos, creative director of Silverton Casino Hotel. “We have a strong passion for supporting local non-profits and other organizations in the community that strive to make a difference in Southern Nevada.”
It is never too late to start giving back to the community and it can be done with something as easy as one click of a computer mouse.
Head over to Facebook and like the Silverton —-it is for a great cause!!!

Popular Strip-front property will close April 30, 2012 to make way for development of The LINQ
O’Sheas Casino, the small Strip-front property located between Imperial Palace and Flamingo on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard, will officially close its doors at on Monday, April 30, 2012.
The property, owned by Caesars Entertainment, will close to make way for construction of The LINQ, a retail and entertainment corridor that will open in 2013.
O’Sheas employees were provided written notification of the official closing date late last week; however, they had been previously notified the property would close during construction of The LINQ project. Casino management is meeting with the 285 employees this week to discuss options for employment at other Caesars Entertainment resorts in Las Vegas. All employees have been provided the option to apply online for open positions within the city and will be given priority and sent directly to hiring managers for interviews. Additionally, many of the O’Sheas dealers will remain with the company filling open positions available at Harrah’s, Imperial Palace, Flamingo and Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon as well as the company’s upcoming World Series of Poker tournament.
“It is never easy to share with employees they will need to seek new positions,” said Jan Jones, Caesars Entertainment senior vice president of communication and government relations. “We are doing everything we can to assist with new job placement for those who are impacted by the closure. While it is difficult to communicate the official closing of O’Sheas, we look forward to the opening of The LINQ and the addition of thousands of new jobs in the Las Vegas market.”
The LINQ project will create 3,000 construction jobs and add 1,500 permanent, full-time positions to the city when it opens in 2013.
